I recently had a Mitsubishi Heavy Industries air conditioning system installed in my garden room by Preferred Cooling, and I couldn't be happier with the result. From the initial enquiry through to installation, Russ and the team were professional, knowledgeable, and easy to deal with. They helped me choose a 2kW Mitsubishi Heavy Industries system that was perfectly sized for my garden room. The unit is compact, modern-looking, and remarkably quiet in operation. Even running at higher output, it's barely noticeable, and in silent mode it's virtually whisper-quiet. The installation itself was completed to a very high standard. All of the pipework, cabling, and trunking have been routed neatly and discreetly, giving the finished job a professional appearance both inside and outside the building. As the outdoor unit needed to be free-standing rather than wall-mounted, the team took care to position everything neatly and securely. An unusual issue arose during the installation when the external isolator switch, which had been fitted separately by my electrician, turned out to have failed. Rather than treating it as a problem, the team quickly diagnosed the fault, explained what had happened, and fitted a replacement so the installation could be completed without delay. Their experience and practical approach were very reassuring. The performance of the system has exceeded my expectations. It cools the room very quickly and maintains a comfortable temperature with very little noise. One of the reasons I chose this model was its excellent energy efficiency rating, air filtration features, and the ability to provide heating as well as cooling, meaning the garden room can now be used comfortably throughout the year regardless of the weather. The team were punctual, courteous, and left everything clean and tidy when they finished. It's clear they take pride in their work and pay attention to the details. The quality of the installation and overall experience has been so positive that I'm already looking at having air conditioning installed in our house, and Preferred Cooling will be my first call. I would be more than happy to have Russ and the team back to carry out the work. I would have no hesitation in recommending Preferred Cooling to anyone considering air conditioning for a garden room, home office, or any other space.Posted on Google Anthony WiseTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Yes. We cover all areas of Crawley including RH10 and RH11 postcodes — Pound Hill, Three Bridges, Tilgate, Maidenbower, Ifield, Copthorne, Langley Green, Northgate, and surrounding villages. As we are based locally, we can respond quickly and offer competitive pricing without the travel costs of contractors coming from further afield.
Costs vary depending on the type of system, the number of rooms or zones, and the complexity of the installation. As a guide, a single domestic wall-mounted split system typically costs between £1,000 and £2,500 fully installed, depending on the brand and specification. Multi-room or commercial systems are priced on a project basis. We provide free surveys and detailed written quotes with no obligation.
A typical domestic single-room installation takes between half a day and a full day. Multi-room domestic systems usually take one to two days. Commercial installations vary depending on the scale of the project. We will give you a clear programme at the survey stage so you know what to expect.
Most domestic air conditioning installations in Crawley fall under permitted development rights and do not require planning permission, provided the system meets certain size and placement criteria. Listed buildings and properties in conservation areas may have additional requirements. We will advise you on any planning considerations during the survey.
Yes. All the split and multi-split systems we install are reverse-cycle heat pumps, meaning they provide both cooling in summer and efficient heating in winter. This makes them an energy-efficient alternative or supplement to gas central heating, and they qualify in some cases for government energy efficiency schemes.
We recommend annual servicing for domestic systems and twice-yearly servicing for commercial systems in continuous use. Regular servicing maintains efficiency, extends the life of the system, and is often a condition of the manufacturer’s warranty. Contact us to set up a maintenance contract.
Look for FGAS certified engineers, genuine local presence rather than a national call centre, experience with both domestic and commercial systems, and clear written quotes. As a locally based Crawley company, we offer all of these…
